Chain Reaction services all makes and models of bicycle, as long as they don't have an engine or motor.  Please don't be ashamed to bring in your department store or old and used bike.  We mean it when we say All customers and all bicycles deserve equal respect.  Our efficient repair protocols and stellar mechanics mean that 95% of repairs are done within twenty-four hours.  The vast majority of those can be completed the same day.  Many can be done while you wait, business and difficulty of task permitting.  Bikes aren't just toys.  We know you need your ride for work, school, exercise, family, and fun.

The repair stand is the heart of any good bicycle shop.  Ours beats loudly and clearly in favor of consistent pricing, accurate diagnosis, and honest estimate of cost.  No one leaves the store without free repair consultation and a written estimate.  Except on extremely small items, we will always call you before performing additional services.

Keep in mind the following when getting your bike fixed at Chain Reaction:

1.  Occasionally, a bike just isn't worth fixing in a commercial setting.  The most common case is a department-store bike that has been left outside in the elements for several weeks or months.  We can recommend avenues for recycling, re-purposing, or donation.  We will always be honest with you about the relative costs and benefits of repair.

2.  The bike industry is notoriously non-standardized, more so than the automobile industry.  This means that shops often require special orders to complete repairs.  Please be patient with land mail, or be ready to pay a little extra for fast shipping.

3.  Safety is our foremost concern.  We consider it unethical to allow an unsafe bike to leave our repair or sales floor.  Understand that, on rare occasions, this means we will be unable to fix a bicycle that has, for example, a cracked frame.

Chain Reaction Bicycles

Pledge of Free Service

Chain Reaction Bicycles seeks to provide the best service policy among its competitors.  To that end, we pledge the following:
For the first year of ownership of the bicycle, the original owner will receive free and unlimited "tune-up" adjustments.  These include tuning of the front and rear derailleur, adjustment of the front and rear brakes, adjustment of the headset and bottom bracket, adjustment of the wheel hub cones, and proper torquing of the crank-arm, seat-clamp bolt, stem, handlebars, and wheel axle nuts.  This also includes truing of the wheels.  This service would otherwise cost you approximately $50.
After the first year of ownership, the original owner will receive minor, individual adjustments for the life of the bicycle.  These include no more than three of the adjustments described above at one time, and "spot" truing of the wheels (meaning the wheels are not removed from the bicycle).
This policy does not cover normal wear and tear of the drive-train components, rubber or plastic parts, cosmetic damage, or any damage caused by collision, exposure to the elements, or uses for which the bicycle was not intended.
The owner of the bicycle is responsible for proper cleaning and simple maintenance, including keeping the bicycle free of moisture, dirt, and excessive grease or oil.  Chain Reaction will show you how to properly lubricate your bicycle and clean your drivetrain (chain and derailleurs) during your first check-up.  Chain Reaction will be unable to honor our pledge of service if your bicycle requires excessive cleaning.
This service policy is non-transferable.  Chain Reaction may rescind the policy if the bicycle has been sold to another party, heavily damaged, damaged beyond repair, or if the owner or any other party has attempted to modify or otherwise alter the bicycle.  It is critical that we perform a warranty check-up and initial tune-up after the bike has been purchased.  If the original owner does not bring the bicycle in for a warranty check-up within sixty days of purchase, the service policy may be considered null and void.
Chain Reaction reserves the right to modify this policy for bicycle owners who took part in a discount program, including those sponsored by wholesale distributors.  At the same time, we endeavor to provide our sponsored riders, event riders, and local cycling clubs with an exceptional level of service, and will endeavor to offer the best service policy to them.

In order to help us honor our service policy, please abide by the following guidelines:
1.  Don't let friends, family, or other bicycle shops work on your bike unless you are absolutely certain they are qualified.
2.  Don't attempt repairs yourself unless you are qualified and experienced. Chain Reaction is committed to educating everyone about proper bicycle maintenance.  Flat repair instruction is always free to bike purchasers.
3.  Don't install, or allow others to install, any accessories, parts, or implements to your bicycle.
4.  Bring your bike in early and often for minor adjustments to avoid more serious problems.
5.  Expect to wait about thirty minutes for a minor, individual adjustment, or up to twenty-four hours for the unlimited tune-up adjustments which are a part of your "first year" policy.
6.  Expect to show your receipt or other proof of purchase to confirm your policy.  While we generally rely on our proprietary seat-tube sticker to validate original ownership, our volume of sales and the nature of the re-sell market in Gainesville may force us to ask for your proof of purchase.
7.  Never remove your "Chain Reaction" sticker from the frame of the bicycle.  If your bicycle is missing a sticker, please bring in your receipt and allow us to replace it.
